We stand with our Asian, Asian-American, and Pacific Islander Neighbors
The Pennsauken Free Public Library condemns the recent vicious, racist attacks on Asian Americans, including the murders perpetrated by a white supremacist last month in Georgia.
We stand in solidarity with the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in Pennsauken, and nationwide, in rejecting white supremacy and all ideologies that encourage violence against all marginalized and oppressed peoples. It’s more important than ever to both name and repudiate racist incidents every time they occur.
The Library will continue to improve the materials, programs, policies, and procedures we work with, so that they better reflect our wholehearted embrace of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all that we do for our Pennsauken community.
We will be doing so in accordance with the Library’s Mission Statement, which reaffirms our commitment to providing a universally welcoming environment for learning for all residents. We welcome your thoughts and suggestions as we continue this process. You can use this digital form.
For those community members interested in enhancing their knowledge and appreciation of the many contributions of Asians, Asian-Americans, and Pacific Islanders, we are sharing the films and books below. We can point you to more materials to suit your specific needs, too. Give us a call at 856.665.5959 anytime.
