Celebrate AAPI MONTH AT PFPL: Join us for a variety of programs throughout the month of May that honor and celebrate the contributions and diverse cultures of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. PFPL is proud to celebrate the culture and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders with the following programs:

Junior Chefs: Candy Sushi 
Saturday, May 11 at 11:00 am
(Ages 8+) Join us for a creative morning as we prepare simple, tasty treats! Limited seating; first come, first served.

Film Screening: Minding the Gap 
Saturday, May 11 at 2:00 pm
(Teens and Adults): This Oscar-nominated film shot over 12 years follows teen Bing documenting his friend group’s coming of age through their shared love of skateboarding.

Graphic Novel Discussion  
Monday, May 13 at 6:00 pm
Teens and adults are invited to discuss Mariko Tamaki and Steven Pugh’s“Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass.” Questions?

Twilight Tales
Thursday, May 16 at 6:00 pm  
Join Ms Susan for stories, songs and rhymes that celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander culture. While any age is welcome to join, this program is themed for young children.

DIY Saturday: Suminagashi
Saturday, May 18 at 11:00 am
Ages 12 & up
Unleash your inner artist with this traditional Japanese marbling technique. This relaxing and meditative art form is a perfect way to explore your creativity and practice mindfulness. No registration is required; however, seats are limited and will be on a first-come basis. 

Community Bollywood Dance Project 
Saturday, May 18 at 3:00 pm
Take a cultural journey across India! In this highly interactive session, participants experience the music and rhythms of India, learn fun Bollywood dance moves to upbeat music, and explore the diversity and richness of India's culture. Stay for Henna tattoos at 4:00!

Evening Book Club
Wednesday, May 29 at 6:30 pm
